Danish Diet
began its “career” 20 years ago in several cardiovascular surgery
hospitals, being applied pre-operative to those suffering from
obesity and overweight. It is a very restrictive diet, with a maximum
intake of 600 calories per day, which should be followed for more
than 13 days. For such obese, cardiac or hypertensive patients whose
life is in danger due to excessive weight, Danish diet is a difficult
one, but very efficient. Many overweight people that truly comply with
the daily regimen, point by point, can lose a large part, if not all
the excess fat.

The lettuce contained in the diet should be fresh, green or iceberg, the cod can be replaced with trout or brill, and the coffee can be replaces with green tea naturally sweetened, of course. The chosen yogurt should be natural, unpasteurized, with no sugar or fruits added to it, as low in fat as possible. It is recommended for the apple to be least sweet, the green kind or for diabetics, and the cottage cheese can be supplemented by green cheese, or another light or cottage cheese, under 5% fat.
